Costs
Your package includes
- Initial medical assessment
- Preoperative blood tests
- Cardiologist review when needed
- Surgical procedure including hospital and operating theatre costs (you are required to pay your fund excess)
- Cost of gastric band
- Surgeons fee
- Anaesthetic fee
- Surgical assistant fee
- Unlimited postoperative visits
- All gastric band adjustment (fills)
- After hours physician attendance at one of our hospitals
- In most cases any additional surgery related to gastric banding
Although you could reasonably expect to pay up is $15,000 - 20,000 for this, if you have private health insurance (which covers the procedure)
The cost in our practice is $3800.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your Appointment for registration and to fill in a health questionnaire.
As a specialist clinic, patients need referral from their General Practitioner, family
physician or other doctor to be eligible for a rebate from Medicare.
When you come for your appointment Remember to get the following:
- Medicare card & Referral letter
- Have your insurance information
- If possible, copies of any operation records, medical records, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans and so on from prior doctor visits (optional)
- If you have had Weight Loss Surgery elsewhere, please bring a copy of your operation report
If you need to cancel an appointment
Telephone the office during business hours and allow at least 1 day's notice so that we can offer your appointment time to patients on our waiting list.
We recognise that your time is valuable, and we make every effort to run on time. Occasionally emergencies or patients require a little more time, and these cause scheduling delays beyond our control. We apologise if we keep you waiting. |
